Still life paintings, throughout history, have allowed the painter to present a window on the objects of contemporary life. These objects are chosen by the painter, be they, flowers, fruit, etc., reflect his soul and perhaps his mysterious life. [continued] My compositions often focus on fruit and vegetables. The reason being, they are inexpensive, sit still, and can be consumed afterwards. I have often painted flowers and other interesting items achieved by combining these with books or musical instruments into a still life composition. I sometimes wrap the canvas completely around the stretcher bars and mount it in a floater frame. Occasionally, I will invest in ready-made frames, but not often. Otherwise, I order moulding then cut and assemble the frame myself. Framing is so subjective it often should be left to the art collector, who knows best how it will fit into his/her décor.
